A Letter from Scott & Kelsey

Hi there! Thank you for taking time to learn about us! We are an Alaskan couple who enjoy navigating life’s adventures together. We believe home is wherever our family is! We both have a heart to serve others and feel blessed to work in healthcare. Scott is a Pilot for transporting medical crews and Kelsey is a Registered Nurse.

Adoption runs in our family; Kelsey and her brother were both adopted at birth! We understand the important decision you are making and will support you in any way we can.

Our Story, as told by Kelsey

I met Scott when I was doing a ride-along at the local fire department. Scott was working as a firefighter EMT. We had an instant connection. I will never forget the excitement I felt coming home with a cute firefighter’s number! We’ve now been married for 10 years.

Since my brother and I were adopted, I always wanted to grow my family that way too, I just didn’t know when. After many years of infertility, we feel as if adoption is the plan God had for us all along. We have many other family members who have been adopted as well, so it’s a natural path for us. We are so excited to become first-time parents!

As a couple we enjoy:

  • Hunting and hiking in the remote Alaskan mountains
  • Laughing and dancing in the kitchen while we make dinner
  • Reading or listening to music together, cozy by the fireplace

About Kelsey

I work as a registered nurse and specialize in Pediatrics at our local hospital. I enjoy advocating for children’s health and supporting families. I work full-time now, though I hope to go part-time in the future, when we adopt. Scott works every other week, so his parents and a family friend will provide childcare when we’re at work.

A few things I love:

  • Scott’s chicken fried rice
  • Reading books
  • Playing piano
  • Riding ATVs on the beach
  • Working in the garden
  • Sewing and embroidering

What Scott says about Kelsey: Kelsey is kind and caring, present, and always there to listen to or help a friend. She enjoys making our house warm and welcoming. She is a great inspiration for our family to stay healthy and active. I know she will be an amazing mother who is patient, protective, and always looking out for the best interest of your child.

About Scott

I work as a commercial pilot for a medevac company. I work alongside a medical crew to provide transport to and from hospitals. I have been flying since I was 18 and am very experienced with aircraft. I can even tell you what specific airplane is flying overhead!

A few things I love:

  • Japanese food
  • 30’s and 40’s music
  • Fishing and hunting
  • Woodworking projects
  • Cooking wild game
  • Cross-country skiing

What Kelsey says about Scott: Scott has grown into a leader for our family and is a man of God. His thoughtfulness and patience for others makes you feel comforted. He once told me all he dreamt of in life was to one day become a dad. I know he will be the most loving and supportive father.

Our Home in Alaska

Alaska offers many of the things we enjoy, such as hiking along trails, fishing, playing in the snow, and watching the wildlife. This state never ceases to take our breath away with its scenery and seasons! We live in a safe community with easy access to shopping and schools.

Our home is a two-story traditional style home with a cozy living room and a loft space for crafting. We have a long green side yard when the snow melts. We can imagine a child one day running back and forth with our dog in the yard and snow sledding down the hillside behind our home.

Our favorite thing about where we live is watching the Northern Lights and majestic sunrises and sunsets.

Our Dog: Amelia is our Pomeranian and she always brings a smile to people. She is upbeat and friendly, and she loves the snow or going on road trips. Amelia is gentle and good around babies and children.

Our Family

We have a close relationship with each of our parents. Both sets of our parents have been married for 30-40 years and have been role models in a strong faith-based marriage. They look forward to becoming grandparents!

Scott comes from a larger family, with extended family across the US (we love when they visit!). His parents live here in Alaska. Most of Kelsey’s family is in Oregon, with her brother living in Utah. We also have many close friends closeby and we enjoy barbecues, walks, camping and taking trips to Alaskan festivals together. Our friends have young children so your child will always have play buddies!

  • Going to Scott’s parent’s remote lodge! It is near rivers, mountains, and a beach.
  • Adventuring through scenic trips by train, vehicle, or small airplane.
  • Cutting down a fresh fir tree at Christmas and decorating every branch.
  • Volunteering at church! We enjoy serving in different ways to help out or making people feel welcome.

Our Promise

We are excited and ready to adopt our first child, just as Kelsey’s parents adopted her. If you’re comfortable, we hope that we can develop a relationship with you through letters, phone calls, pictures, and visits. Our personal experience with adoption helps us understand more about how to be there for our child in the questions and feelings they may experience. We will always celebrate how our family came together in this way!

We promise to:

  • Raise your child to know that they are loved unconditionally, by you and us.
  • Provide a stable, faith-filled home where he or she will feel secure and safe.
  • Support your child in all situations through open communication.
  • Surround your child with a positive support system of family and friends.

Thank you for considering us! To contact us, please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Thoughtfully, Scott & Kelsey
